EatingNowSquare-150x150 [title type="h3"]A Wonderful Wine Dinner Goes To The Dogs[/title] Old Covington is not like the rest of the North Shore. It has numerous historic places, one of which is Annadele Plantation. The cooking in its restaurant has been at an all-time high lately. They will show this off to best advantage this Friday (January 16, 7 p.m.) when a four-course, three-wine dinner goes off in the expansive dining parlors of the 1855 mansion. For the past several years, one of the pet charities (pun intended) for the owners of Annadele is its annual dinner benefiting the Humane Society. Especially since the hurricane, with its resultant population boom in St. Tammany Parish, the pressure on the animal services programs has grown. My family is the proud owner of two lucky dogs who, left behind by their owners, happened to walk onto our property and adopted us. Many more would-be pets need the Humane Society. And if you like to dine in high style among a fun crowd, you need to be here. Here's the menu.

Crabmeat Imperial on Crostini
Wine: Lander Jenkins Chardonnay, California

Roasted Mushroom and Mixed Green Salad
with Bacon Vinaigrette and Crumbled Goat Cheese
Wine: Willamette Valley Whole Cluster Pinot Noir, Oregon

Beef Tournedos
Carrot Whipped Potatoes, Port Wine Reduction

Frangipane and Puff Pastry Tart

The price is $85, inclusive of tax, tip, and wines. Proceeds go to the St. Tammany Humane Society. The dinner begins at 7 p.m. Reservations are essential at the phone below.
