Everything about it suggests the season--at least if it's made hearty and with enough cloves, lemon, and sherry to emit that special aroma. One of the best recipes for turtle soup is deployed in an unexpected place. Da Wabbit is a long-running neighborhood cafe in Gretna, the kind of place you'd go for red beans or a poor boy. But their turtle soup, made in a very old style, is one of the best around. I get it every time I go there.
