SummerDiningSpecials [title type="h3"]Coolinary: Fountain Lounge, The Roosevelt Hotel.[/title] I'm never quite sure what's going on in the Fountain Lounge, off the magnificent lobby of the big old Roosevelt Hotel. The Fountain Lounge is the space where the Sazerac Restaurant was in its heyday. (Before that, the same spot was called "The Fountain Lounge," so the hotel cannot be called uneconomical in its use of names.) Nowadays it comes across like a bar, with a substantial menu of cocktail lounge food. The Coolinary version of this is attractive enough:

Grilled Shrimp Escalivada Smoked mushrooms, pecan romesco, farmer's cheese, charred eggplant
~or~

Brussels Sprouts
Miso-honey dressing, almonds, pickled breakfast radish
~~~~~
Parmesan-crusted, Double-cut Pork Chop
Watercress, Alaskan king crab, radish, citrus, artichokes
~or~
Ahi Tuna
Grilled watermelon, “coolantro” pesto, garden tabbouleh
~or~
Market Catch
Local crawfish and sweet corn maque choux, smoked bacon
~~~~~

Crème Brûlée
Grand marnier, candied orange, citrus meringue
~or~

Bread Pudding
Old New Orleans rum glaze, candied pecans

The price for the three-course dinner is $39. The Fountain Lounge opens at happy hour time (4 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. every evening except Monday. They stay open until midnight Fridays and Saturdays. Live music all the time.
