[title type="h2"]Pelican Club's Spirited Dinner Next Thursday. [/title] Tales Of The Cocktail--the big event of the year for lovers of spirits--is under way for 2016. The event draws both amateur and professional mixologists from all over the country. Among the many tastings and seminars is a night of major dining. The Spirited Dinners work like wine dinners, except that cocktails substitute for wine. Some thirty Spirited Dinners are on the card, all set to go the evening of Thursday, July 21. Scanning the menus, the most interesting to me is the one at the Pelican Club. The juice for the dinner will come from the 146-year-old Torres in Spain. Torres is famous both for its wines and--more to th epoint of this dinner--its brandies and other spirits. They're made from the house's own wines. The diners begin clinking many glasses throughout the evening, starting at eight p.m. (The late start owes to the great number of items on the Tales of the Cocktail program. And the late hours kept by bartenders. The price is $125 inclusive. Chef Richard Hughes will run the food side while his bar chefs mix their potions. Here is the menu: Reservations are required by calling the restaurant at 594-523-1504.[title type="h5"]Reception[/title]
