Arnaud's is among the restaurants where I'd dine much more often if I didn't have so many undiscovered restaurants to sample. So I'm happy when they hand me an excuse to go there for dinner. Like this one: from now until the end of the year, Arnaud's is collecting teddy bears to be given to children around New Orleans whose prospects are heart-breakingly dark. No need to go into details: it's one of those realities the only response to which is, "What can I do to help?" Here's what. Bring a new, original-container teddy bear--any size, any color, any style--and Arnaud's will turn them over to the New Orleans Police Department. They are, sad to say, in a unique position for knowing where the most unfortunate children are. You don't have to stay and dine at Arnaud's. Just ask where the teddy bears go, during regular business hours. But as long as you're there. . . well, it sure is a feast, and they're open seven nights a week. And on December 12, 15 through 19, and 22-24, Arnaud's and it spectacularly decorated dining rooms are open for lunch, too. And there's a Reveillon menu, too.
