Boudin Scrambler @ Fat Spoon Cafe
Breakfast business on the North Shore is not only booming, but as creative as in all but the very best breakfast places on the South Shore. Among the originals at the Fat Spoon (the name underestimates its goodness) is what amounts to an Italian-style fritatta. That's an omelette, really, flipped only once during the cooking process and not folded. Hidden in the egg curds is a substantial amount of boudin, the spicy Cajun sausage of rice and pork. Also in there is just enough white cheese to mellow the boudin. It makes for robust and generous eating. It's easily enough for two people, and comes with fresh-cut fried potatoes.
