Brunch At Copeland's. But Not Its Buffet. Sheepshead.

[title type="h5"]Sunday, January 26, 2014.[/title] Mary Leigh brought The Boy back to his dormitory this morning, but was back in time to have lunch with me. As usual, she had no ideas as to where to go, and she rejected all of mine. That's when I have to start throwing out places I don't really want to go--either because I don't like them or because we have been there entirely too often. Today's such restaurant: Copeland's. ML likes the place, because it's aimed at her demographic. Not mine. And we discovered something we didn't know about Copeland's on Sunday mornings: they serve a brunch buffet. I don't like buffets, but I took a look anyway, in service to my information-gathering function in life. It didn't look all that bad. Nor all that good. The only thing worse than going to a buffet is doing so late in the service. [caption id="attachment_41065" align="alignnone" width="480"]Hamburger on a croissant at Copeland's. When I asked about the fish of the day, I had a pleasant surprise: it was sheepshead, easily the most underrated fish in Gulf waters. I had it blackened. It was generous in size and cooked nicely, although it could have used a little lemon butter sauce or something. A shade dry. The side order of red beans and the drop biscuits were just fine. We are supposed to have a deep, long cold snap this week. FleurDeLis-3-Small [title type="h5"]Copeland's. Covington: 680 N US 190 (Causeway Blvd). 985-809-9659. [/title]
