The Annual Auctioning Of Fun Is Here

Anyone wanting to experience the fabled holiday Fridays in the Galatoire’s downstairs dining room can buy their way in at the annual charity auction for these coveted seats. The fun starts this Monday, December 2nd, from 5:30-8pm. The live charity auction will be made more festive with beverages and complimentary hors d' oeuvres by Executive Chef Phillip Lopez.

This brilliant idea was hatched in 2006, and has itself become a highly sought-after event. The Galatoire’s Foundation has added Roots of Music and Junior Achievement to the list of beneficiaries. Others are Big Sky Ranch, Girls On The Run, Giving Hope, Bridge House/Grace House, and The New Orleans Ballet Association.

The tables that are auctioned are for the Friday before Christmas and the one before Mardi Gras, the two most highly prized days for Galatoire’s. Since its inception, this raucous auction has raised more than $2.2M for local charities.

The “no reservations” policy for the downstairs dining room has been in place since 1905. The auction makes two notable exceptions to this long-standing tradition. Kudos to the brains at the fun Grande Dame to figure out a way to make people happy and to help other ones at the same time.
