Almost everyone who goes to Charlie's Steak House places the same order, and that's been going on for years. You start with the hillock of thin-sliced fried onion rings, then get the wedge salad with blue cheese (the one they were serving here for fifty years before everybody else in town started doing it). The steak for those in the know is the T-bone, but the less adventuresome get the filet mignon. Either the mammoth French fries or the potatoes au gratin on the side. And no dessert, because where would you put it? I am genuinely astonished that Charlie's is serving the dinner I describe above for the standard Coolinary price of $35. If there is a better bargain on a steak dinner anywhere else in town, I don't know where it would be. Lest you think the place is downsizing steaks for the Coolinary price, know that you get either a 10-ounce filet or a 14-ounce sirloin strip.
