diningdiary Another full day in front of the computer screen. A new thirty-inch-wide monitor has made the job easier. But the penchant of software developers for using fonts so tiny that one must squint is perverse. They'll get their punishment when they're my age. Or maybe not. Maybe by then keyboards and screens will be obsolete, replaced by thought receptors. Heck, women and dogs have that capability already. Why not computers? Speaking of. . . It is very cold overnights. Mary Ann is concerned that our old dog Susie doesn't want to come inside. But that's the way Susie has always been. Still, every night, if MA isn't out there trying to find and coax our rescue dog inside, she has me doing it. Mary Ann made me stop staring at monitor at around seven in the evening. She made some hummus and pita chips, which somehow satisfied my appetite. This is how I continue losing weight, even after eating enormous poor boys, dinners at La Provence and the Bon Ton, and other such rich fare. Some days--today, for example--I eat almost nothing. I stave off hunger with, for example, a single graham cracker. And my weight continues to inch (or perhaps centimeter) down.
