Usually I do a show anyway, but for some reason it was decided to give all the on-air people and their producers the day off, and replace it all with the NBC Sports Network. If it had been up to me, I would have done a show, but the producers would probably prefer otherwise. So I goof off. If you can call making up this year's Reveillon list goofing off. In other trivial news, the tire to fit the new wheel on my PT Cruiser is arrived and mounted, and I get my car back after only two weeks. Hurray! Mary Ann makes gumbo with the turkey carcass. It's a good start, because we smoke the turkey, giving a nice flavor to the broth. It comes out good, but a little light on the roux component. We have sweet potatoes left over, too. I grew up eating chicken gumbo and sweet potatoes together. Sounds funny, but the flavors go together marvelously. It's better than the potato salad a lot of people like in their gumbo. This meal puts only a tiny dent in the mountain of leftovers Mary Ann will gloat over during the next few weeks. Two items are nearly gone, however: the root beer glazed ham (I five that one more day at most before it's all eaten) and the cheesecake (gone). I'm happy to say that I made both of those.
