This month Dickie Brennan and his partners, staff and regular customers celebrate the sixteenth anniversary of the restaurant. That's an important birthday for a girl, and by that I refer to another piece of news. Sara Toth, who has worked in Dickie's restaurants for eight years, has been named Chef de Cuisine of Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. Chef de Cuisine is the second in command after the executive chef, and is the hands-on manager of the actual cookery. She is the first woman to hold that position in Dickie's association of four restaurants (Palace Cafe, Tableau, and the Bourbon House are the others). But back to the restaurant's anniversary. To mark it, the Steakhouse is offering a two-course lunch for $16, which is probably less than what they were charging when the place opened. Here's the menu:
Wedge Salad
Iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, red onions and your choice of dressing
~or~
Turtle Soup
Fresh lemon and sherry
~~~~~
Petit Filet
Four-ounce filet mignon, lobster mac & cheese, wilted spinach and marchand du vin sauce
~or~
Pepper-Crusted Tuna
Seared tuna served over a classic Nicoise salad
This $16 special is at lunch only, and lunch is only on Fridays. The reason I am telling you about it today is that you probably should get a reservation now in order to get in this Friday. Of course, the regular menu will be there, too--including the absurd one-pound hamburger.
