The Empty Bowl Project has been held in Old Mandeville for the past eleven years, raising tens of thousands of dollars for The Samaritan Center, which helps the less fortunate in the Mandeville area. The Center is a central distribution point for twelve churches to families who need food, clothing and critical services. It's easy to forget that even in this affluent country many people barely get by--or don't. Here's a list of the restaurants participating (and there may be more): [title type="h5"]Opal Basil Lakehouse Nuvolari's Jubilee Vianne's Gio's Villa Vancheri The Broken Egg McClain's Pizza The Beach House K-Gee's Oyster Bar & Seafood Sweet Daddy's Barbecue [/title] The ticket price is only $30--an amount you can feel good about even if you don't get anything but a good feeling in return. It's this Sunday, November 9, 4-7 p.m., at the Pontchartrain yacht Club on the Lakefront at 140 Jackson Street. You can get tickets at the Samaritan Center (402 Girod, Old Mandeville) or at the door. I will be there my own self. See you, I hope?
