Feast With The Stars, Sunday Brunch, Gallier Hall

EatingNowSquareFor more autumns than I can remember, Parkway Partners has presented a delightful Sunday brunch at Gallier Hall. It's the year's biggest fundraiser for the Partners and its programs of replanting and beautifying the city's streetsides, neutral grounds, and small parks. It hardly needs to be said that there's no limit to the need for those efforts. The event is called Feast With The Stars. People you will recognize will serve drinks, serve food, and just hang around ready to palaver about whatever they're famous for. Regulars over the years include Bob Breck, Margaret Orr, Dan Milham (a lot of weather people, which might explain why the weather is always perfect for this), Errol and Peggy Laborde, Leah Chase, Susan Spicer, and many others from the worlds of media and food. They've allowed me to pretend that I am a Star for the past eighteen years or so. FeastStars-Crowd There is food, of course, and cocktails and wine. Here's a partial list of this year's the list of the restaurateurs:

Upperline
Duck etouffee, corn bread pepper jelly

Hilton’s Crawfish Pasta
Seven-pepper hot sauce, from one of the Parkway Partners' community gardens

A jazz band plays throughout the whole party, and the mayor usually shows up. The event goes on at Gallier Hall, which sets up well for things like this. Lots of tables at which to sit and eat. (And drink: the price includes an open bar.) It's this Sunday, October 12, 11:30 a.m. till 2 p.m. The price is $75; that hasn't gone up in many years. More information and tickets can be had from their website. You can also buy tickets at the door. For the past few years, the Feast With The Stars has added an online silent auction to the auction at the event itself. I'll have autographed copies of my books available, and far better things will be there for near-stealing. I hope to see you there; this is always a really enjoyable event, one I never miss.
