Fernando or Sam Sandwich @ Stein's Deli
Stein's is one of the two or three best sources of deli sandwiches and the ingredients for them anywhere around New Orleans. The array of sandwiches takes a long time to pore over before ordering, but whatever you wind up with is likely to be superior. These two sandwiches are fine examples and very popular. The Fernando has a distinctly Italian pannino quality, with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and pesto. The Sam is more like something from Manhattan: hot pastrami, Swiss, cole slaw, rye, and Russian dressing.
