SummerDiningSpecials [title type="h3"] How Do You Say "Coolinary" In French?[/title] The Coolinary is, ironically, the hottest thing in New Orleans dining right now. Eighty eight restaurants each offer three course dinners for $39 through the month of August. What made The Flaming Torch stand out as I made up our list of this year's of Best Coolinarys is that it's a four-course dinner. It begins with the soup du jour or a house salad--two things they do well. Then three appetizers and three entreers from which to make a choice. Note to liver lovers: The Torch serves one of the best versions of that veal specialty. Note to those who hate liver: forget I mentioned it. There are other entrees.

Soup du Jour ~or~

House Salad
Mixed greens with tomato, cucumber and heart of palm tossed with house vinaigrette
~~~~~
Crevettes BBQ
New Orleans style jumbo Gulf shrimp with rosemary, pepper, garlic, Worcestershire, Abita beer and butter
~or~
Escargots
Sautéed snails in garlic butter
~~~~~

La Foie Lyonnase
Sautéed veal liver with grilled onions, demi and butter
~or~

Le Filet de Saumon Grillé
Grilled fillet of salmon with lemon butter sauce
~or~

Coq au Vin
Free-range chicken braised with red wine and root vegetables
~~~~~
Mango Sorbet
Four courses, $39 in the charming, even romantic dining rooms of The Flaming Torch, whose Coolinary menu is served at dinner hours Sunday through Thursday, through the month of August.
