Pop-ups are popping up everywhere, but this one is for a great cause. Tomorrow, Parkway Poor Boys is popping up at Port Orleans Brewing to benefit the Al Copeland Foundation, which has done extraordinary work on curing all cancers by partnering with LSU Medical Center.
Parkway Poor Boys serves a number of especially creative poor boys, but a few years back they realized a dream of a former employee and actually made the sandwich of his fantasies. Each November, they slice roasted whole turkeys and put it on poor boy bread with cornbread dressing, homemade cranberry sauce, and gravy. The lines are long for this sandwich, which is only available on Thursdays in November until they run out. (They always do.)
This Saturday, from 11-3 at Port Orleans Brewing, they will have the Thanksgiving Poor Boy and sweet potato fries for $20, with all proceeds going to the Al Copeland Foundation. Port Orleans has crafted a special brew for the occasion, with a dollar of each purchase going to the cause. If you want a commemorative tee-shirt, those are $20 for the Foundation.
If you miss the event but still want to help, treat yourself too this November. Visit Parkway on a Thursday and skip the line for $50. It will go to the Foundation
