Le Foret Is Serving Lunch Again

Written by Tom Fitzmorris September 18, 2014 13:01 in

When it first opened four years ago, Le Foret had it figured to be there both for dinner and lunch--getting the long-lunch business people and others who enjoy a grand midday meal in the classic style of the CBD. That never worked out, but the idea that a strong community of fine-dining restaurants in the downtown is such a good idea that Le Foret is trying again--on Thursdays and Fridays, for now. Part of the downtown lunching tradition included good pricing. So Chef Brandon Felder went after that first. For $27, there's a two-course special lunch along these lines: gazpacho with heirloom tomatoes and jumbo lump crabmeat for a starter, or sugar-cane-glazed pork belly johnnycakes with fried leeks and peach puree. The entrees on this $27 special are foie gras and peach injected pork loin with braised greens, or Manchester quail with oyster cornbread stuffing, pumpkin puree, candied pecans and fire roasted peppers. Through the month of September, they're throwing in a complimentary dessert with teh above. And unless I read this wrong--and I don't think I do--the $27 price is cut in half at lunch until October 1. A modified version of the a la carte menu is also on tap, with entrees running between $14 and $22. LeForet-SoftShellCrab- You might not need them, but I'd get a reservation. The restaurant is handsome enough that a lunch there would be a wonderful thing for celebrating an employee or companion lunch.
