Happy Memorial Day 2019!!

Few subjects on the radio get more callers than hamburgers. Burger eatery proliferation outpaces other food genres, and that includes Western Europe now. Even white tablecloth restaurants often have a burger option. So do seafood houses. There is a reason for this. Yes, of course, they’re good. More to the point, what is more classically American than the burger?

We recognize this American passion for burgers, so we have dedicated to the burger its own space, and welcome robust debate on the subject. We will feature what we consider to be the currently reigning king of burgers locally. Extra points for fresh cut fries.

To our taste, this designation at this time goes to Francesca. We challenge you to find better. And don’t miss the frips, served in a cute basket. These are fresh and unusually cut fries, always golden and crispy.

Why we love it: The brioche bun is nice, though we always prefer a hardier bun. With sesame seeds. The half-inch burger has a really special and fantastic flavor, (maybe the magic ingredient is brisket fat?) heightened by the finest crusty char on the outside. The patty is delicately formed and perfectly seasoned. It comes dressed with bibb lettuce, tomato, and mayo, and housemade pickles. Beware, though, these tend to be sweet. (They also have the regular dill kind, and will graciously sub it out.) There is cheese, and bacon, and the usual extras, making this pile of dripping deliciousness 3-4 inches high. But if you are a burger purist, as we are, it all comes right back to the patty, which is our mind is nonpareil.
