You Can't Fool All Of The People. Gumbo From The Bins.

I wrote my annual April Fool article during the past few days and posted it last night. It's not in the outrageous fib I've employed over the thirty-seven years I've been messing with people's heads on this date. My goal in the past was to rope in as many people as I could with news of a fictitious restaurant that was too good to be real. I still get calls from people wondering about restaurants they found appealing but were never able to find, because the restaurant was a past April Fool--sometimes from decades ago.

This year, it was more along the lines of satire. I got a lot of letters from people who knew this is coming and enjoyed it. But I didn't fool many people. What's that quote that says satire closes on Saturday night?

Mary Ann is cleaning out the freezers. Most of the trove will go to the dogs, to whom it should have gone before it even entered the icebox. Mary Ann will try to save the rest of it. She made a chicken and andouille gumbo with some of the relics, and I had a bowl of it as my only meal of the day. I'd better not go on about this.
