Web Bother. Return To Class.
Every year on this occasion, I feel Mary Leigh's pain. Returning to the school routine after Christmas vacation always seems harder than coming back from summer. Making matters worse is a tremendous rainfall. Mary Leigh doesn't feel comfortable driving on the Causeway in that, and I don't blame her. Mary Ann took her in, came back home, and went back across to pick her up. She thinks nothing of this excessive driving, yet will tour six or seven gas stations looking for one with gas a penny cheapef per gallon. That would go on for the next three days.
Over the weekend, I didn't have time to deal with a bunch of e-mails from subscribers who are having trouble penetrating the NOMenu.com web site. Apparently some glitch occurred when we switched to the new server last Thursday. I have dozens of letters from paid subscribers who now can't get into the site. I'm glad Jude's around to help figure out what the problem is.
I knew this was going to happen. NOMenu.com, while much advanced over what it was when I started it eleven years ago, is constructed with primitive methods--the only kind I know. I've attempted to teach myself how to use modern tools, but the curve is steep and I just don't have the time. A fault slippage in my cyberspace was inevitable.
Between that and the regular overwhelming Monday load, it was a very full day. Mary Ann was very pleased to keep me in my stall by piecing together leftovers for me to sustain myself.
My publisher sent a note thanking me for getting the manuscript for my book in on time. She says that almost never happens.
