New Wine Store In The Food & Wine District.

The stretch of Magazine Street from Washington Avenue to Louisiana Avenue is in all ways but officially the Food And Wine District. Even by the standards of Magazine Street--which now has 70 restaurants along its entire lengthy--the concentration of eateries and gourmet food shops is not equaled anywhere else in town. The newest denizen of the District is Bin 428, a wine store operated by Mark Latter. Familiar name? You mean, of the owner. Yes. He's the man who took over the ownership of Tujague's after his father, who had run it for over thirty years, passed away last year. Mark subsequently saved Tujague's from extinction. Turns out that all along he had been working on this wine store, which he put off opening until the old French Market restaurant was squared away. Bin 428 (someday, business owners will learn that giving numbers instead of names to their enterprises is a bad idea) is on the corner of Washington and Magazine, across the street from Coquette. In addition to 400 wines (why not 428?), the store stocks lots of artisan beers, liquors and liqueurs, and gifts. (And what could be a better gift than wine?) The store is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily, save for a 5 p.m. Sunday closing. They're having a grand opening party this Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Bin 248. . . No, wait, that's Bin 428
