[title type="h3"]Oktoberfest @ Annadele's Plantation[/title]
You just never know where Oktoberfest celebrations might appear around town. One that I wasn't expecting will be held this Friday at Annadele Plantation in Covington. That beautiful old house does good work with special dinners of all kinds, and the German menu they have planned for tonight has a lot of appeal to my palate. Some of the courses are very traditionally Teutonic, but others are current takes on the cuisine. Here's the whole menu:
Hamburg Canapes
Smoked salmon with cream cheese and dill
Cheddar Beer Soup
Schnitzel al La Holstein
Fried veal, buttered noodles, fried egg, caper brown butter
Roasted Duck Breast
Cherry and kirsch-infused demi-glace, whipped potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts
Apple Strudel
Pastry rolled in butter, cinnamon, apples, raisins, pecan filling, vanilla bean ice cream
The price of the dinner is $75, including beer and wine pairings. Tax and tip are extra. The event begins with a cash bar at 6:30 this Friday, October 6. Diners sit down at 7 and the whole party lasts until 7 p.m. Reservations, secured with a credit card, are required: 985-809-7669. If you've never been to Annadele's before, ask for directions. (Basically, you turn from Causeway Boulevard in Covington at the Popeye's, and signs will direct you from there.)
