This Sunday November 3rd, Bar Marilou will host famous Parisian baker Apollonia Poilâne from 4-6pm for a reception and small soiree featuring her famous breads. Apollonia is in town for the launch of her book, “Poilâne: The Secrets Of The World-Famous Bread Bakery” out today. This will be the first and only time to taste these breads in New Orleans.
Apollonia is the third generation to helm this legendary Parisian bakery, founded by her grandfather in 1932. She took over the reins of the operation at 18, after the tragic death of her parents, which is chronicled in the book.
For the first time, secrets of the bakery are revealed, along with detailed instructions for home bakers to reproduce the breads, tarts, pastries, and butter cookies they discovered in Paris. And yes, instructions to recreate the famous Parisian sourdough are here too.
