Tonight, the very best, (in our opinion), of the annual Coolinary dinners begins. The Pelican Club has, first of all, five-star food, but this menu includes three or four times the choices of other menus around town. And they run it longer. Here you will find, in addition to spectacularly well-made versions of familiar classic New Orleans fare, things like housemade pork steam buns, as well as tuna poke on the appetizer list, and shrimp with curry, whole crispy fish, and rack of lamb for entree choices. Chef Richard Hughes is impressively deft at seamlessly melding Asian flavors with our strong regional cuisine. And yes, his signature seafood martini is there.
Check their website for the full menu, and do it soon, because it will take the rest of the summer to work your way through it.
