Emeril's newest New Orleans restaurant Meril is hosting a Portuguese wine dinner tomorrow, Thursday, September 14. The Portuguese connection is in Emeril Lagasse's DNA; his family and the place in New England where he grew up has roots in Portugal. It's a four-course dinner with wines from Portugal. Other than the sweet red Ports that every wine drinker learns to love early in life, the dry wines of that country are not well known. Instead of a single wine's matching each course, the wines will be served in a family style. Meril's itself serves most of its menu according to that plan, so that should be interesting.
The price is $70, inclusive of wines but with tax and tip extra. Call the restaurant at 594-526-3745. Here's the menu:
