At my regular lunch with two good friends, the subject turned to Arnaud’s. One has been a regular there for years, with a planned menu for their annual Sugar Bowl Committee event. He marveled to me today that, in all that time, he had never eaten off the menu. A few days ago he went with his wife and a few others to have dinner, and his wife got the Coolinary. She was delighted, as was another friend who raved about the Cornish Game Hen. This did look like one of the better menus, and not including it on our list the other day was an oversight.
My friend eschewed the Coolinary for the Veal Wohl, and thought it delicious. He wants to go back again soon. He is high enough on his experience to entice me to promote the 25th anniversary menu for $25 at their casual outpost Remoulade. And the Coolinary at Arnaud's.
If you are unfamiliar with Remoulade, it is the casual version of the Grande Dame, with two entrances on Bourbon St. The menu includes the classics: shrimp remoulade, poor boys, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. Also great 8 oz. freshly ground burgers, and oysters from the oyster bar.
This special 25th anniversary menu is three courses for $25 with an option to pair your selections with half-price champagne by the glass, or Bayou Potions, their featured cocktails. The menu, offered Sunday through Thursday through August:
First Course, choose from:
Italian Salad
File Gumbo
Shrimp Arnaud
Second Course, choose from:
Shrimp and Jalapeno Grits
Crabcake Sandwich
Fried Green Tomato Poor Boy
Third Course, choose from:
