The Fountain Lounge at The Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria has a medium-priced Reveillon that offers one of the eclectic menus. First-course choices are Crispy Sweetbreads with Pickled Cauliflower and Jalapeno or a Petite Tartine of Delice de Bourgogne Cheese, Pumpkin Pear Butter, and Herb Salad. The second course offers a choice of Parsnip Velouté with Pork Belly, Oyster and Preserved Lemon. Or a salad of Endive and Escarole, with Artisan Blue Cheese, Pecans, Pomegranate, and Cane Vinaigrette. Entree choices are a Crispy Duck Breast with Yam Purée, Swiss Chard and Citrus Sauce, Seared Scallops with Creamy Stone Ground Grits and A Tomato Dill Vinaigrette, or a Chargrilled Beef Coulotte, Comté Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Broccolini, Shaved Parmesan, and a Zinfandel Jus. Deserts have two choices: Sage Caramel, Roasted Apples, Hazelnut Shortbread, and Whiskey Chantilly, or Chocolate Torte, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Peppermint Fluff, and Hot Cocoa.

The price is $49 for four courses

NOTE: This week and next are wonderful family events that have only recently become holiday classics. The LPO plays across the street at the Orpheum with the Holiday Spectacular, alongside the 610 Stompers. And Handel’s Messiah is the following week. The hotel, with its traditional lighted lobby, is a great place to go before or after these performances. Why not have it include another fine tradition, a Reveillon?
