There are a lot of official NYE happenings around town. Most of them are big, some are expensive, and a time and money “commitment” is usually required. This will likely be the one and only time that this new place will not have the same kind of restrictions so here is a little secret.
The beautiful new Higgins Hotel has a rooftop bar that is very nice (full disclosure: it is “themed” from 1941, but still beautiful and well done.) It is also not well-known yet. The rooftop bar, called Rosie’s, has a view that is mostly opposite the river. But it also wraps around, so the fireworks on the river should be seen from there. Arrive early because there are no reservations and who knows who knows about it? Great signature cocktails and bar food. There is also a full restaurant downstairs and another bar, Kilroy’s. And a convenient hotel opening rate special if you drink too much.
So on New Year’s Eve, the place to be at the Higgins is Rosie’s. So new it will be an adventure. We can let you in on this little-known tip, but the mythical New Year’s Eve kiss is on you.
Happy New Year!
