Shrimp And Duck Decatur @ Cafe Giovanni
One could eat several first-class, multi-course dinners at Cafe Giovanni without having a single dish with a decidedly Italian accent. This is particularly good example of that. It also overcomes a clash I think exists between birds and seafood. It's the robustness and spice of the mushroom and tasso sauce that pulls it together. The shrimp and duck components have their own big flavors. The whole thing reminds me more of the style made popular by Paul Prudhomme than anything from Europe. But that's what I come here for.
