[title type="h3"]Tales of the Cocktail[/title] . . . is in full flow, with so many events going on that it's a challenge to figure out what parts of it to indulge in. I am so confused that I had the program all wrong in this space yesterday. It turns out that, as in past years, all the Spirited Dinners--they're like wine dinners, but served not with wines with each course, but cocktails--will take place Thursday night. After going through the list of twenty-five restaurants, I have recommendations for the next three spirited evenings. Many of the dinners on the master list are sold out. Strangely, the ones I would have chosen still have seats.
Here is the Spirited menu for the restaurant operation of the Hotel Mazarin. This is the direct descendent of the famous, extinct French restaurant Louis XVI. Indeed, the chef--Agnes Bellet--goes all the way back to the days when Louis XVI was still a full-service restaurant. It's Thursday, July 16, 7 p.m. Reservations are essential, at the number below. The price is $120, and it's a big menu.
There's a theme: Aperitivo in the Piazza. So, Italian-style small plates--some 25 different items, paired with a dozen cocktails--around the courtyard fountain. Lovely.
