Strawberry Baked Alaska @ Bistro Daisy
The concept of baked Alaska is so simple--ice cream on top of pound cake, all covered with meringue--is so simple that chefs have been tempted to add new dimensions to it. The best of these--far better than the common idea of adding chocolate syrup--is this idea from Chef Tony Schulte at Bistro Daisy. Strawberry ice cream in the center, fresh strawberries suspended in the meringue. What a great end to a romantic evening!
