Chef Chris Case's cool-antique dining room is the most suave place to eat in Slidell, with an ambitious menu with a New Orleans taste and a touch of France. This is a good time of yet to head over there if you don't live in Slidell. First, because it gets dark late. Second, Christopher has a special summer menu. It's one of the increasingly popular three-appetizers-and-glass-of-wine specials. In this case, (no pun intended) you get the package for $28:
Eggplant Sticks
Battered and flash fried eggplant sticks served with house marinara
Bruschetta Sampler
Roasted fennel and tomato jam, olive tapenade, and roasted garlic with goat cheese
Shrimp Remoulade Salad
House-made remoulade sauce over shrimp and crisp iceberg
House Cut Kennebec Potato Chips
With bleu cheese crumbles and truffle oil
Wild Mushroom Tart
Artisan cheese spread, roasted wild mushrooms, and tomato fennel jam
Grilled Quail
Ponzu pepper jelly glaze and mirliton slaw
Seared Scallop
Citrus and fennel slaw with orange and grapefruit supreme
I'd say come in a table of four and order two of everything plus one extra of the favorite dish. The organizer gets the extra glass of wine.
