Rainy Day Means Light Eating And Heavy Writing.
The weather is insane. Middle of January, but for four days the temperatures rose above 80. Meanwhile, the rain keeps coming. A full inch today. The Cool Water Ranch is so sodden I'd need shrimp boots to take my half-hour walk.
Mary Leigh's boyfriend is sick with a fever and retching. She wanted to spend the night nearby (not in his room, of course), and became very upset when MA demanded that she come home. Isn't that cute?
I didn't leave the house, but nibbled at leftovers all day long. Yes, even food writers do that now and then. I ought to do it more often, because it allowed me the time to get my next book project decidedly under way. I feel good about its direction, and think I can get it out this year.
After dark, MA and I watched the movie "Ted." It's about a boy whose teddy bear magically comes alive. The movie follows the boy and his teddy into adulthood, and we see the two of them shooting the poop about sports and sex while smoking dope and drinking beer. A lot of the movie is aimed at the gross minds of young single guys and is more than a little sophomoric. (That's necessary to sell a movie these days.) But after getting past that, I found the film hilarious in a brilliant way. Lots of great details and subtle lines. MA thought it appalling, but she laughed all the way through--and then she missed a lot of the humor.
