No Saints @ The Chimes. Heaters.
Mary Ann's nephew Gary came over to visit, and we took him to lunch at The Chimes. I think I've had about enough of this place. The many screens of football lure the Marys there almost every week. If I want to eat with them, I must go where they go, and they love The Chimes. The food is better than tolerable, but with my limited number of available meals and the number of restaurants I have to visit, I'm here far too often.
The soup du jour was so tasty last time that I tried another one. Today's was a seafood stew, made not in the creamy style I suspected but along the lines of bouillabaisse. Big chunks of fish, shrimp and oysters were awash in a spicy broth with tomatoes, onions, and herbs. I could have made a good meal out of a bowl of this stuff.
Instead, after a cup of it I had a salad topped with blackened shrimp and sauced with remoulade. The shrimp were good, the greens were iceberg. Gary seemed to like the grilled chicken club sandwich. Mary Ann had some innocuous salad and some of my shrimp.
Mary Ann wanted to sit on the covered deck outside, even though it was a chilly day. Those tables are so popular that the management bought a bunch of propane heating towers. They worked fine for MA and Gary, each of whom had a heater at her or his back. I was on the outer edge of the table, and was glad I wore a jacket.
