Lasagna Failure.
It rained ferociously through the night, and again in mid-morning. I was hoping to cut the grass today. But there was so much standing water that it was difficult even to take a walk.
So I was stuck inside, catching up on the most tedious kind of work. The worst of it was finding a cache of almost 600 emails from subscribers and others. A change in email software a few months ago created the snag. It took hours to answer them all.
Took a break for an early supper (I had no lunch, and just my usual spartan breakfast). I had no particular place in mind, leaving me open to try Coscino's in Mandeville. It started as a pizza specialist with a standard Italian menu, and expanded when Bear's moved a few months ago. I remember Coscino's pie as being pretty good, in the thin-crust style. It is no better or worse, but so many classy pizzerias have opened lately that it pales a bit by comparison.
Pizza isn't what I had in mind, but a basic red-sauce Italian pasta dish. The waiter strongly urged the lasagna upon me. I was thinking about that anyway, mainly because of the claim that Italian sausage as well as beef were involved. Well, it wasn't very good. Wasn't what I'd call vividly fresh. Nor did the Caesar salad move me much. I ordered a cheese pizza to go. When I was losing a lot of weight two years ago, a slice proved to be the perfect appetite killer in mid-afternoon. It could even keep a hunger for dinner at bay.
