Healing Overindulgence.

I never wake up with a hangover. But after a feed like last night's, with so much good wine, I am on low power all day. Somehow, this doesn't affect my work. The part of my brain that writes seems to bypass the mood unit, and the words roll right out onto the page. Could this be how so many great writers had such great problems with alcohol?

I have known for a long time that the mechanism that generates my written words exists apart from the one that feeds words for speaking on the radio. This explains why my attempts to write by voice-recognition software failed. When I was having eye trouble a few years ago, I tried to speak my articles into the word processor. Readers told me that those articles read like they'd been written by someone else.

My dullness of mind on days after big dinners definitely affects my radio show. It's a good thing the program doesn't start until late afternoon, by which time I've had a little lunch, a lot of café au lait, and a nap. And, if I can, I just do the show from homing, allowing me to extend the nap a bit. Which is what I did today. Gosh, I'm lucky!

After the show, I made Mary Ann happy by eating some of her hoard of leftovers. I think she has enough to last two months, is the bad news.
