Thursday, December 16, 2010. Utterly Routine. The chilly weather broke into a beautiful, warm day. No heaters needed at all. I took advantage of it and stayed home all day. I had a lot to do anyway--notably my year-end column for CityBusiness. I always check the column I wrote last year to see what I predicted then and how far off the mark I was. Not too bad this year, although I failed to foresee the BP oil spill. It might be a good idea to collect all those past annual columns and publish them online. I have them going back to 1990, at least.
The Marys were interested in lunch at the Acme. Grilled oysters: smallish but not bad. A fried oyster poor boy for me: crisp, greaseless, tasty. Wedge salad for Mary The Younger. Stuffed artichoke soup for Mary The Not Quite So Young. The restaurant was nearly full, and so were the highways. People are shopping. Happy day!
