Bastille Day? Deluge, Then Vacation?
It's the French national holiday, but a surprisingly small number of French restaurants did anything special for it--unless they threw something together at the last minute. Of all the evolutionary changes over the years in the restaurant business, the one that sorrows me the most is the death of the grand French restaurant. Everything's a bistro. More evidence of the decline of the middle class, I guess.
Slice of Crescent Pie and Sausage Company's pizza for lunch. Two slices for dinner. This will, I hope, give me some range for more eating on vacation.

Before I go on vacation, I have to record the twenty-something commercials that I would ordinarily perform live. I've been trying to get this done all week, but got nowhere. I can do the job at home, but it takes longer, and I have to get one of the producers at the radio station to put them into the system for me.
As it was, I was up until half past midnight recording the spots, and I still wasn't finished. We were to leave for Los Angeles tomorrow morning, but now. . .
