More Deluge. Less Food.
A tremendous system of thunderstorms shut down the Causeway today, making the journey into town not only unappetizing but perhaps impossible. Since one of our guests for the Round Table radio show was also coming from the North Shore (Hammond, in fact), we just called up the other two scheduled guests and cancelled the whole thing.
Nobody seemed to miss the Round Table, though. We had a busy three hours. Unusual for a day full of storms, the lighting from which announces itself emphatically to anyone listening to an AM radio station like mine.
Mary Leigh--who last night brought The Boy back to his dormitory room so he could begin his exams--was free for supper. Zea again. We were met by disappointing news: no avocados, and so no guacamole (which they do surprisingly well) nor the tuna stack.
Hamburger for ML. For me, a bowl of the same corn soup I had here three days ago, followed by a big Caesar salad. I am in a rut, but at least this will be light-eating day start to finish. I have an unofficial program of treating one day this way, but I can't claim to have been faithful to the program entirely.
The way these storms are coming in gives me a bad feeling about this year's hurricane season. But there'll be plenty of time to worry about that. Right now, I have to figure out how to pay off our tax bill, which I finished calculating tonight. It's another record year.
