Still Raining. N'Tini's Double Seafood Platter.
Everybody in the New Orleans area is tired of the thunderstorms. They have been the kind that could happen anytime from about nine in the morning on. When they hit, the rain is a waterfall, and not a small one, either. And the lightning is frightening. I'm glad I stayed home today.
Mary Ann began the day by telling me to forget about going out to eat today, especially with her. She has still not weighed herself since returning from the fleshpots of Los Angeles. But all such plans change when she (or I, or anybody with normal won't power) gets hungry.
I can't castigate her for bringing up N'Tini's, because I was thinking of that emporium of overeating my own self. Mary Leigh also likes it, so there we went. But all three of us knew we needed to put the brakes on this order. Mary Leigh succeeded at this, getting her beloved wedge salad.
Mary Ann and I failed. We started off with an appetizer of chicken, beef, and shrimp kebabs. We were thinking there would be at most two of these. Three. Well-shished, all of them. We also thought it would be safe to get a seafood platter, and split it. However, we hadn't reckoned with two practices at N'Tini's. First, the seafood platter there is extraordinarily large. Second, they split it in the kitchen, and by doing so added more than the normal amount of seafood. Really, we each had full-size seafood platters.
We recalled Klara (Mrs. Drago) Cvitanovich's sage advice: "Really, who needs to eat a seafood platter?" But we didn't take it. Good thing we weren't here on the night when N'Tini's does its prime rib special.
