[title type="h5"]Voodoo On The Bayou Tonight.[/title] The wild, loud Voodoo Festival in City Park is not until next weekend. That leaves this weekend open for an older, more civilized festival with better food. The Faubourg St John Neighborhood Association holds its annual fundraising party this Saturday night. It's called Voodoo On The Bayou, and aside from being entertaining, it's a bargain. The tickets are only $50, and include open bars and these restaurants serving their food: Angelo Brocato's Aunt Sally’s Pralines | Cafe Degas Commander’s Palace Deutsches Haus Divine Portabella Fair Grounds Fairgrinds Coffeehouse Fellini’s Café Katie’s Little Tokyo Liuzza’s By the Track Lola’s Mona’s Café New Orleans Tomato Company Nonna Mia Parkway Bakery Ralph’s on the Park Rouse’s Supermarket Ruby Slipper Café Santa Fe Restaurant Terranova’s Italian Sausage The Half Shell Toups Meatery Venezia The location is wonderful, especially for a cool, agreeable evening. It's centered on The Pitot House, one of the city's oldest homes, on Bayou St. John in the bend across from City Park. It was the home of James Pitot, the first mayor of New Orleans. The party starts at eight-thirty tomorrow (Saturday, October 25) and goes until midnight with live music, open bar, and food. The tickets are $50 online, or you can get them at the gate for $60. The money goes toward the continuing improvement of the historic neighborhood, with a particular goal of restoring Desmare Park.
