If a New Orleans style of barbecue could be identified, this would be it. The folks who run this place are very pleasant and cook everything themselves, but there’s one problem with their barbecue that I can’t seem to get past: the smoke flavor is so subtle that it’s lost on me. But there are few tastes more individual than barbecue, and the Rib Shack has a substantial number of admirers. Their ribs are actually pretty good, the light smoke notwithstanding. On the other hand, the beef is not close to what I look for in barbecue. Prices are almost absurdly low.
