Beef Negimaki @ Mikimoto
Mikimoto is a better Japanese restaurant that its small size and drive-up window suggest. I like to sit at the sushi bar and alternate back and forth between sushi and hot dishes from the kitchen. Of the latter, the beef negimaki is the most alluring. Two versions--both with marinated, grilled, sliced beef as a wrapper. One is a bundle of green onions, the other a shock of small asparagus. After grilling, the bundles are sliced and sent out in a sizzling teriyaki sauce. It might qualify as a cheap thrill, but it is indeed a thrill.
