[title type="h5"]Broussard's: The Best Coolinary Price This Year[/title]
One of the Grand Dame French-Creole restaurants of the French Quarter, Broussard's changed hands a couple of years ago. The new management first performed a very agreeable renovation of much of the premises (bigger courtyard, now open for dining). Then a new chef and the concomitant new menu. Interesting turn: instead of heading upwards, the prices at Broussard's are approach those of a bistro. The Coolinary is a good example of this: the three courses go for $19.20--the year the place opened. This menu is a pleasant surprise at that price:
Balsamic Strawberry Salad
Walnuts, arugula and goat cheese-stuffed phyllo
~or~
Soup du Jour
~or~
Crab and Shrimp Seafood Cake
Okra tartar
~~~~~
Pan Roasted Breast of Chicken
Creole corn maquechoux, smoked oysters, and spiced tomato jam
~or~
Pan Roasted Gulf Fish du Jour
Coconut sticky rice, citrus chile butter sauce, and tropical fruit salsa
~or~
Boneless Braised Beef Short Rib
Creole smashed new potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and haricot verts
~~~~~
