Nothing Cheesy Here

Written by Mary Ann Fitzmorris November 12, 2019 21:04 in Happenings

I have often said I don’t want to contemplate a world without cheese. If you feel the same, don’t miss the second annual Fête Des Fromages this weekend. Sample some 150 gourmet cheeses from around the world with cocktails, beer and wine available for purchase. Meet cheesemakers from all over the world, and watch chefs onstage race to break down cheese wheels. Sponsored by the Gulf Coast chapter of the French American Chamber of Commerce, the event takes place on the grounds of the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Old New Orleans Mint.

This is so obvious it’s a wonder no one has thought of it before. Only in its second year, expect this delicious event to grow. The two more intimate events leading up to the big day are sold out, so it’s one to watch carefully for next year.

There are still plenty of tickets for the big day this Saturday, November 16th. Gates open at 11 am for VIP ticket holders, and noon for general admission, Tickets range from $35-$130, depending on your level of participation. Kids are $10. The first 200 VIP patrons can attend a 45-minute cheese class with beverage pairing,
