I work at home today, churning out first my CityBusiness column, then working on a software problem (photos will not go upstream to NOMenu.Com) that remained unresilved until after the radio show. Before the radio show, I pick up the taillight lens for the PT Cruiser. Then I head up Dog Pound Road to the Humane Society's per adoption unit. A little paperwork, and I am the proud owner of Valencia, brother of Satsuma. They are nearly twins, with the same unusual light orange-tan fur. The only way we can distinguish them is that Satsuma has white mittens. Mary Ann is feeling adopter's remorse, but I knew that was coming. She doesn't really like cats, even when she is utterly charmed by the playfulness of these two, who are running around the house at top speed just for the fun of it. The Marys are out all day. Mary Leigh comes in from Pittsburgh via Dallas. They go to lunch, and later participate in Dat Dog's weekly trivia contest with friends. ThaiSpice-PanangCurry-2 As for me, after the show and the fix on the website (it's too dark to fix the taillight), I go to Thai Spice, where I have not been for awhile. I get Panang curry with beef, three stars' worth of hot pepper in the mix. It's as good as ever. I read an article about Iceland from the New Yorker on my smart phone. I can't say I have the hang of that. A typical home-alone day, except instead of having my old chum Twinnery to share the silence I have the next generation. These things happen.
