Murmurings Of Christmas And Other Observances.
The roofers are rolling right along, with about half the new tin roof in place. They say that it should be done by Wednesday. How those guys just climb up there and walk around with neither ropes nor trepidation is beyond me.
I'm glad I let Mary Ann talk me into it. She's fired up, and has been working hard selling ads to bring in the cash flow this job will require. It had not been in the budget for all of a sudden. But subito is that MA likes to do everything. Never a dull moment with her.
I hope Mary Ann is pleased that I continue to subsist on her leftovers. I sliced up a bunch of the root beer glazed ham and made lunch of it. For dinner I had a piece of boudin. Things could be worse, I guess.
The Christmas spirit is beginning to come my way as I assemble the Reveillon menus and add my notes and recommendations. That's always a bigger job than I expect. This year, almost all the menus are different from last year's, adding to my labors. But I enjoy doing all that. The dinner at Café Adelaide sounds especially good. I hope we can squeeze it in.
On the other hand, there's no talk around here yet of getting a Christmas tree. Or of Mary Ann's birthday this week. I dare not plan anything. She will undoubtedly have something in mind she'd rather have than what I plan or buy for her. I would be surprised not to hear what that something is in a day or two.
