New Orleans Food And Spirits.

Mary Ann asked me where I wanted to have lunch. I said I wanted red beans. She then told me we would be going to New Orleans Food And Spirits. Case closed. Good salads, then a plate of red beans with a grilled pork chop. They make everything in house at NOF&S, which for restaurants of that kind (it's a local, chain of three casual restaurants) is becoming less common all the time.

Red beans and rice with pork chop.

The beans were well made but not quite spicy enough for me. The pork chop, however, was much better than I expected, crusty and thick, still moist in the center. I still wish they'd offer hot sausage as an option.

We managed to keep from going to dinner after the radio show. I didn't have the time, anyway. I am in crisis mode in the writing of The Lost Restaurants Of New Orleans, which I must turn in to Peggy Scott Laborde and Pelican Publishing on March 15. But that's what deadlines are for. Motivation.
