Two Favorite Things

Friday after the show we went directly to a reservation we had at Brennan’s, but arrived well before 6, when seating for dinner begins. It was an opportunity to walk over a half-block and get some oysters at Antoine’s. On the show, we had been heavily promoting their $5 Oysters Rockefeller deal they were offering all day in honor of National Oysters Rockefeller day. We slipped into the Hermes Bar which was really busy and ordered two portions of Oysters Rockefeller and a Vieux Carre drink for me. I still sang Manhattan for Mary Ann.

This was too good to pass up, even though we had already made dinner plans at Brennan’s (more on that later.) It took a little bit to get the oysters, though less time than we expected with such a promotion. The oysters were up to their usual standards, and coupled with the delicious bread Antoine’s serves, it made for a nice pre-dinner snack. Even better, the total bill with the drink was $21. No matter the price or circumstance, Antoine’s is always a treat for me.
